Room Spray Base - Air Freshener Base Concentrate RSB

Room Spray Base

Air Freshener Base

Fragrance and Essential oil Emulsifier

Non-Flammable - Alcohol Free

This is a special formulation which can be used by both professionals and amateurs who wish to make Room Sprays and Air Fresheners. It allows the simple addition and blending of essential oils and fragrances to produce clear solutions.

Our Room Spray Base is Non-Flammable and Non-Irritant. Therefore it will have zero contribution to any hazards in the finished product.  With the appropriate fragrance selection, finished products can be free of hazard pictograms and warnings.

Steps to Create a Room Spray Using Room Spray Base:

  1. Determine Your Fragrance percentage: A typical ratio for room sprays is 2-5% fragrance oil or essential oil. The percentage may vary based on the strength of the fragrance or personal preference

  2. From the chart below, determine how much Room Spray Base is required for the selected Fragrance percentage.

  3. Combine your fragrance or essential oil with the Room Spray Base first. Stir the mixture well to ensure the oil is evenly dispersed in the emulsifier. This will help to ensure that the oil blends smoothly into the water later on. Resulting blend should be clear and uniform.
  4. From the chart, below determine percentage of Distilled / Deionised water required for the selected Fragrance percentage. Slowly add water to the Fragrance-Base blend while continuously stirring. The water should be at room temperature. Make sure the blend remains smooth, and there’s no separation between the oil and water.
  5. Since the room spray contains water, it's recommended to add a Preservative to prevent bacterial growth. Common preservatives for this type of formulation include phenoxyethanol. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Testing Stability: After mixing, let the spray sit for a day or two to check for separation. If separation occurs, you may need to increase the amount of Base.
  7. Spray Bottle Choice: Use a fine mist spray bottle for the best dispersion of the scent in the air.

EXAMPLE: If you want to make 10 litres of a room spray with a 3% Fragrance oil, you will blend 300mls of Fragrance with 1.5L of room Spray Base. Then slowly add 8.15L of water, with constant mixing. Finally add 50mls of Preservative and mix until clear.

Please Note: Fatty based essential oils like jojoba oil may produce cloudy solutions and may require the addition of glycols like dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether (DPM) to clarify solutions.
